Aks Agarwal
Being a First Year Representative at the Investment Society this year, I have worked closely with the Speaker Relations team and have demonstrated my abilities in the department. I have been a major part of two successful events so far, which have been the highlight of my time here. Hence, I feel ready to make the step up to becoming Vice President.
Following the two high-profile events that I hosted, I received positive feedback for my composure while speaking in front of over 60 attendees, showing that I can handle pressure. During my time with the Conference and Speakers teams, I also proved the calibre of my organisation skills. In both the coordination and hosting of the speaker sessions, I showed that I am adept at communicating in professional situations, a vital skill for this role.
Having already learnt in depth about the committee structure, I will carry forward my expertise to continue organising engaging events, and will also take an active role in the planning of the Finance Conference. In a year where socialising has been especially tough, I have successfully developed relations with clients, colleagues, and members alike, and will remain an approachable committee representative.
A vote for me as the VP of Speaker Relations would be a vote for more informative events with experts from the financial industry, for bridging the gap between the committee and the members, and for continued efficiency and innovation within the UCL Investment Society.
