Helia Anoushiravani
Social media is a powerful tool for change, for learning and for making a lasting impact. As a current and future leader, I would like to take the helm as social media director. Change on a global scale cannot occur without awareness of today’s pressing issues. One of my main goals would be to ensure that all members are up to date with current affairs. I would also use social media as a means of creating an open space where bilateral and multilateral affairs can be discussed and debated. In a world where hateful opinions outnumber positive commentary, it is even more crucial that social media accounts are run by people like me who do not shy away from a challenge.

I was previously the social media manager of my eco-cup company, which had a following of more than 1K people. The business earned several thousand pounds as a result of a strong and constant digital presence which promoted not only the product but also the environmental mindset behind it. One tool I used regularly was Hootsuite, a programme that allowed me to schedule posts consistently. It is a great organizational tool that I will definitely use again if I am given this position. Consistency and quality of an online presence coupled with my passion for creating engaging graphics will ensure that only quality content is posted. With my past work experiences as well as my graphics design skill set under my belt, I am certain that I will make a positive impact as social media director.
