I am very enthusiastic about running for treasurer and feel I could help revitalise the club after a difficult year. COVID has meant that the club has not been able to fulfil its primary purpose of providing ice time to its members, therefore it’s extremely important that we make a strong start in the next academic year. As Ice Club is a society that has given me so many positive experiences, I am more than willing to put in the work to make this happen so we can ensure the club remains prosperous for its current and future members.
One of my priorities will be leaving the club in a better financial state than when I started. Sadly the club has had to be more frugal in previous years and I would love to see a time where finances are vastly improved. It would be amazing if the club had funds available for additional ice time and resources to help figure skaters’ varsity preparation, or new kit for our C team members. Perhaps we could introduce a bursary to help members who are less able to afford their own kit.
Due to some past events, the union may not see our club in the best light. As I have not served on the committee before, I could provide a fresh face to represent the club and begin to restore a positive relationship with the union.
I currently do a degree that requires a high level of numeracy and I previously worked in a law firm accounts department. Here I learned some valuable skills in accounting that would be a pleasure to put to use on the ice club committee.
