Sophie Edwards
In my first ever circle after my fresher trials, I sat next to Aimee Serisier, who told me that she would bet I’d come to be present of the club. Almost 4 years later and I am now applying for the role that I always hoped I’d one day get to be.
Throughout these four years, I have given everything I have to this club; I’ve shown I can organise and stick to deadlines as mixed team captain. As 2s captain, I have shown my leadership skills, and as social secretary, I think myself and Jess have shown so ingenuity and creativity in the face of challenging times when trying to keep up interest in socials. I have been to just about every event, training, match and social that I possibly could so I don’t think I could know the club any better at this point, putting me in good stead to run it.
After an unexpected year, I think there is a lot we have learnt and can take forward into the future to make our club even better. I would like to continue the bigger focus on welfare events that we have achieved this year, put more work into the club in being actively anti-racist and upping club diversity, as well as getting back to the normal hockey and social calendar that we have desperately missed.
Being your president is the best way I can give back to the club that has supported me so much over my last four years of medical school, and I will work my hardest to be deserved of such a role.
Thank you and the biggest RHL to you all.
