I would like to nominate myself for the captaincy of the 1st XI as I believe that I am able to best facilitate the progression of the team and club, throughout the rest of this season and next. I would come into the role with experience of high-level hockey, having played in the EH National League and the top end of the EH Player Pathway. I have in-depth experience and understanding of what is necessary to promote and sustain a team capable of playing to an elite standard. Furthermore, I have prior experience of leading successful teams, having captained my school team as well as within Home Nations and Performance Centre tournaments. One of the changes I would like to make as captain would be the introduction of a leadership group. This structure has worked well in my experience of previous teams; where there are continuous changes and new additions to the squad, allowing both new and established players to make more valuable contributions that may have been overlooked with a singular captain. Over the last 5 years, I have had the privilege of working with the best and most innovative coaches in the UK, and I believe this would allow me to bring a new and improved approach to both training and match play. I could draw from my prior experiences to make improvements in this area, however, I would also actively seek input from the leadership group, allowing us to have the freedom to decide collectively how to focus training sessions, and then to develop as a team.

I have been in UCLMHC since 2017 and am motivated to take on a position of responsibility within the club. I am dedicated to the society and would like to be present in a position of captain, offering the experience I have gained captaining county and regional teams throughout my hockey journey. I believe I can improve our training sessions and match strategies with the idea of gaining promotion in the forthcoming season. With an involvement in the club, my organisational and communicative skills will be beneficial in achieving success next season. I also want to have an active role in volunteering to help grow the society, and echo the excellence of hockey across all of university sports. I want to produce an elite first xi team that is focused, driven and has an uncontested social standard, that will be the envy of every society. I want our trainings to be more structured, the team to be more organised, and our game play to be superior. I hope to bring an enhanced unity amongst the squad which in turn will lead to a greater level of enjoyment. I also want to work towards expanding the size of the club and the standard at which it performs. I think I have all the attributes to achieve this and would like to be considered for the position.
