Shaunak Sahu
As a friendly, enthusiastic and competent individual I enjoy socialising and playing sports. Being a FYR gave me a rare insight into how the society works. This was fundamental to my understanding of what it takes to be one of the committee members who will help in the running of the society. l enjoyed being a FYR as I met many new people and effectively helped in organising events including Take Me Out. As a Medic I have the ability to advertise Hindu Society on our group chats and forums, exposing us to the medic’s scene. This is so important as medics tend to be one of the largest groups of students that take part in Hindu Society. My previous experiences have led me to develop a broad set of abilities - Rugby gave me a proficient set of teamwork and communication skills, whilst my University course has developed my organisational talents, derived from juggling extracurricular activities. I am heavily involved in reselling clothes and sneakers which has taught me strong negotiation and sales techniques, complimented by working in retail last summer.
Aarushi Marde
Hi, my name is Aarushi, I’m a first-year English student and I’m applying to be your HSOC General Secretary for next year! To tell you a little about me, I’m approachable and always up for a chat (so if you see me, please say hi!) as well as efficient and proactive, a necessary skill for organising society room bookings. I am suited for the role because I have experience working an administrative job for 2 years alongside strong written and communication skills as an English student, crucial for producing newsletter updates. I also have 16 years of experience participating in dance performances, through which I have gained insight into organising large showcases such as Rangeela and anticipating the needs of the dancers. I would pledge to ensure regular communication between individuals and the committee by publishing the condensed minutes from each meeting and weekly newsletters with opportunities for feedback. I would also introduce the app ‘Society’ which delivers instant notifications with updates and provides an easy and direct messaging platform to connect with the committee members. Feel free to send me a message if you have any questions on Instagram (aarushim_571) or Facebook (Aarushi Marde)!
Yash Gupta
My name is Yash Gupta and I am running for Hindu Soc General Secretary. Having been an active member of the society throughout the year by playing football and attending online socials has made me very passionate about the society as it has been an enjoyable and important aspect of my university experience. As seen by my consistent involvement I am a committed and organised person which are essential skills for a good General Secretary. This is very important for the smooth running of events next year which I am very excited for and also determined to make bigger and better than before. As General Secretary I will ensure that bookings are made promptly and according to what members wish. I promise to ensure good communication with all members in the society, new and old, in person and via social media and emails. Having experience of organising socials, such as parties and prom beforehand, I will bring new ideas to the society as well as listen to the ideas of any member. So if you would like a General secretary that is committed, organised, and an open communicator please vote for me!
