Zhongyao Zhang
Hi, I'm Audrey Zhongyao Zhang and I am running for the Welfare & Outreach Officer of UCL Hiking Club. In the past two years, I have been working as a part of the Hiking club committee. I served as a Social Media Officer and Vice President, and I would love to continue my support! If I'm elected, I will work on to create an embracing and engaging club for everyone who's interested in hiking:

Firstly, I will lead the organization of inclusivity events to actively engage postgraduates, LGBTQ+, BAME, and students with disabilities. With my experience in running the club's social media, I will make sure to utilize our platforms to promote a safe, cohesive and welcoming society community.

Secondly, I will maintain active communication when other clubs, societies and organizations, and seek out collaboration opportunities to create diverse events that will attract prospective members.
Yulin Song
Hello everyone, I am Yulin Song, a second-year Economic&Statistic student. I am applying for the Outreach &Welfare Officer.
My love for hiking started after I joined the UCL hiking club in my first year. More specifically, it started after I completed the “This UCL girl can hike” challenge in November 2019, walking 38.6km in a single day. I am grateful to the “this girl can” campaign as it not only helps me explore a new sport but also let me know that I am much tougher and stronger than I thought.
From this experience, I understand how important the role of the Outreach & Welfare officer is. These outreach events targeted at minority groups such as “this girl can” and project active, do make a difference in helping more people realize their potential and eliminating the barriers to engage in sports activities.
I am applying for this position as I would like to give back to the hiking club for all these fantastic experience and devote to creating a more diverse and inclusive student community.
Moreover, I believe that I will be an ideal candidate for the position.
Being a transition mentor this year enables me to be a good listener and supporter with a non-judgemental attitude. All the skills and experience I learnt from a range of volunteering (e.g. organize stray cats adoption days, design lockdown fundraising package) will help me organize the volunteering opportunities for club members.
All in all, please vote for me, and I will never let you down! ;D
