Meg Day
Hey everyone! I'm Meg, a first-year undergrad studying Politics, Sociology and East European studies. I am also currently participating in and helping to organise the UOL intercollegiate rent strike, which has been taking place since the beginning of January.

While we're in lockdown, I recognise the increased importance of social media as a means of reaching out and sharing our ideas as a society, and therefore the increased responsibility. I don't think there has ever been a more pivotal time for reiterating these ideas in this country, where we're currently witnessing a roll back of human rights at an unprecedented rate and scale. Standing in solidarity with the groups who will be most affected by this, particularly the transgender community, is something that our society has a proud history of and something that I, if elected, would hope to contribute to further.

In terms of social media more specifically, I recognise that this role cannot exist in isolation and that collaboration is necessary with the whole membership, members of the committee and other UCL groups or societies that have a social media presence. I have certification and have trained in graphic design, and hope to bring those skills to the role. I also run a meme page on Instagram, so I have lots of experience in making memes too!

Solidarity, and remember, "women hold up half the sky"!
