Hey I’m Anya, a grad student in first year medicine- This past year I have been the activism and fundraising officer for GenFem! In my role I have organised and ran an open mic night which involved speakers from writer’s society- I hope to do more society collaborations like this in the future, to increase GenFem's presence. I am also currently liaising with charities to increase the role GenFem plays in fundraising, as well as host different events and fundraisers the society can take part in, such as a charity quiz and strava campaign, which I hope to continue next year. From 2019-2020 I was the president of Sheffield University’s Feminist Society, in which we were nominated for society of the year, so I have first-hand experience of what it is like to run a society. I understand the importance of good organisation and communication as vital attributes for a successful society, which I hope to bring to the role. I can take a pro-active approach and think on my feet, which is something I had to do a lot in Sheffield, when events or meetings had to be adjusted or re-planned. I have always been passionate about feminist societies, being a member of one throughout all my university years, which is why I wish to continue Beth’s amazing work. My priorities will be placing GenFem at the forefront of student life, even influencing student union policy, such as consent initiatives for sports teams. I would love to take on the role as president and would thoroughly enjoy it. Thanks!
