I’ve been part of UCL’s FilSoc since my first year, where I’ve found and continue to find a sense of family. This past year, as FilSoc’s Welfare Officer, I launched the new Ate/Kuya Programme to help connect our members with each other even amidst the pandemic. I also worked with Kanlungan, a British charity providing financial and socioemotional support for Filipino migrants, to speak at an event about identity in the Filipino diaspora.

I’m running for Media and Publicity Officer to promote FilSoc’s activities for the year, and reach more people as we celebrate Filipino culture. I hope to strengthen our social media presence by posting and sharing content more regularly, not only about FilSoc’s projects, but also about other Filipino initiatives in London to highlight our community’s culture and excellence. Apart from my experiences with FilSoc, I am a marketing officer for FiliFest. I have also designed and written social media content for Labang Pangkalusugan, a youth-led Philippine healthcare organization, and COVID Care, an initiative that I launched and led over last summer. These activities have allowed me to gain skills in graphic design and social media marketing that I hope would make me fit for the role!
