Anniereetha Moses
Hello, my name is Annie and I'm a first year UCL Chemical engineering student. My university experience has been completely online thus far, so I really understand the importance of clubs and societies as a way to connect with students/staff communities.
University is often a site of hardship, struggle and intense pressure, which can be a detriment to student wellbeing. When faced with such adversity and stress, societies often serve their members with relaxation by providing new events, activities, sharing the good company of fellow students and with the presence of the Welfare Officer. The Welfare Officer I wish to be is one who promotes general wellbeing, treatment of poor mental health, collaboration between student groups, and to honour the great importance and benefit I could give to students. I believe by taking on this role, I could increase visibility of welfare issues, and be a direct point of contact in the Engineering Society for anyone wishing to access important wellbeing services. After being the Events Director in the AIChE society, I gained key communication and cooperation skills that would aid me for this role, and by being a member of the Engineering society for under a year now, I have attended and participated in their events which only elevated my wish to serve UCLES to be a network of nourishment where students can benefit from new experiences, opportunities, and friendships in a jovial, enjoyable environment.
