Deepali Foster
I have thoroughly enjoyed being Drama Society’s Head of Volunteering this year, so would love to continue my role. The position combines two key aspects of my personality; my love for performing, and desire to enrich the lives of others, which is what I believe innovative theatre can do.

As we (hopefully!) ease out of lockdown, post Covid-19 community unification will be essential. Therefore, as Drama’s Head of Volunteering, I would work to establish and run an outreach project for Drama Soc members to participate in. I’ll focus on working collaboratively with, and empowering, groups within London’s disadvantaged communities through the medium of performance. I would also aim to build a relationship with a local school, as our Society has the potential to make a real impact, providing young people with workshops that open their doors to a world of creativity, culture and experiment. This year, UCL Drama joined ‘Students Saving Our Theatres’, a campaign fundraising for local theatres financially affected by Covid-19. I would continue to fundraise to aid the art sector’s recovery.

This year I helped to produce and direct Drama Soc’s Pride 2020, last year I acted in a Blooms show and, prior to UCL, I have performed with companies such as The National Theatre. My extensive experience in theatre, as well as my history running drama workshops for children and adults alike, proves that I have the skill necessary to be elected as your Head of Volunteering.
