Hi everyone! I'm a second year Population Health Sciences student and am nominating myself to serve as the Volunteering Officer for the society. Understanding of how significant of an issue dementia is for both individuals, families, and society as a whole through my studies, directly impacting the quality of life for the patient, family carers, and economies worldwide, I would like to do my part in addressing the issue. Being involved with the Dementia Research Society will therefore provide me with an avenue to do this.

Having previously volunteered with a range of charities in different roles, ranging from a store assistant at Cancer Research UK to an elderly carer at a local elderly care home, I have an in-depth understanding of how charities are able to most effectively fundraise for their respective causes. Having also served in various outreach roles, I also have experience liaising with various third parties and NGOs to secure partnerships and collaborate on events. I therefore wish to draw on my prior experience in these areas to organise volunteering events to either directly support dementia patients in person, or host fundraisers for dementia related research initiatives.

Having managed social media channels for multiple societies, I also have extensive experience using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Canva to create publicity content, which I will be able to lean on when creating infographics focused on facts and statistics surrounding dementia.
