Clarence Huang
Why are my qualifications?
I’ve been a competitive debater for the past 6 years. Out of those 6, I have spent 5 organising tournaments alongside coaches. Broadly, I’ve judged at multiple local level high school tournaments in Canada and helped to organise provincial championships, and this year I have gotten involved as a judge and tab team member at UCL Schools.

My long time as a debater and judge ensures that I understand what students are looking for in a tournament. I will implement this perspective in organising UCL IV.

What are my priorities as an IV convener?
Improving UCL IV - I look to keep positive changes from online debating, whether that means keeping a tight tournament schedule or accessibility for all debaters.

Ensuring transparency - letting students know where their money is going. Tournament transparency has been a debating community hot-button issue, and I intend to ensure that all students are assured that all funds from UCL IV are going towards growing UCL’s debate program.

Ensuring development and leadership opportunities for UCL students - whether this is through judging opportunities at UCL IV and London Open or organising a great President’s Cup, I will make opportunities for UCL debaters to grow their connections in the debate world a priority.
