If you were wondering who was behind the colorful CAS newsletters . . . hello! My name is Shyla and I’m a PIR student who served as one of the Marketing Directors this term. I have a passion for sustainability, action, and open education. To test this commitment I am off fast fashion this year (it’s been a success so far!).

Over the past year, I have primarily focused on amplifying our Journalism Department through newsletters highlighting their latest articles and generally communicating society merch & events updates to the over 1700 subscribers we have on our newsletter. To do so I have had to interface with the various departments we have here at CAS which has made me familiar with the inner workings of our society.

To take my commitment to our cause and society a step further, I am running to be General Secretary for the upcoming academic year.
As is required of the role, I have organizational skills and a drive for progress and plan on having a provisional calendar of events for the upcoming year by early August.
Furthermore I plan on hosting full committee meetings/ individual Dep't check-ins once a month to keep track of logistics and ensure we are progressing towards our goals.
Finally, according to our constitution, the GS is responsible for fortnightly newsletters, so I look forward to continuing on with that:)

My primary goal will be to facilitate CAS’s growth and reintegration into a hopefully more normal university year:)
