Hi everyone, my name is Raymond Liu, a second-year student studying pharmacy. I am running for the external affairs vice president.
This year I am the head of sports department, regulating the operation of the whole department and the communication with other departments or external partners. Under the pandemic circumstance, we collaborated with other organisations to hold various unconventional sport events such as fitness trampoline and snowboarding, in order to provide a larger platform for all students to participate and enrich their extracurricular experiences. Therefore, through this process, I’ve improved the skills of networking and negotiating with potential cooperative partners, so as to strive for the maximum benefit for our CSSA and also mitigating any potential disputes within the union.
If I can be elected as the external affairs VP, the first aim to achieve will be to expand the influence of UCLCSSA among all the organisations in London, even UK. We would like to build up a coalition amongst most CSSA in London and other societies, which can mobilize all the resources so that our activities could have greater coverage and exposure. My second aspiration would be to provide a platform for specialized sponsorship opportunities for individual departments. Not only could this spread out financial burdens, but also encourage more proactive initiatives.
If you want to have greater exposure and exciting programs, I will be your best choice!

Being the Head of Social and Entertainment Department this year, I have gained skills and confidence that allow me to deal with different situations with different people comfortably. Leading a team is never easy, and I have encountered so many obstacles throughout the past year, but I overcame each of them with the help from my peers and colleagues from the presidium, and each time I took away something useful with me. Every little thing that I have done in the department always taught me something new and valuable.

Furthermore, as an individual who has spent time in both Social and Entertainment along with Public Relations and Liaison Department. I have familiarised myself with the working structure of these two departments that focus on connecting to the external world. This provided me with the experiences and knowledge that will help me in dealing with the external affairs that UCLCSSA needs to deal with in the upcoming academic year.

The role is an important belt between UCLCSSA and the external world, in communicating with other CSSAs around the globe and promoting UCLCSSA to wider global audiences. UCLCSSA has already made its solid footprint in the UK with being the largest CSSA in the country. However, I think UCLCSSA deserves to be recognised by larger audiences. If I'm elected, I promise to make UCLCSSA to influence wider global audiences and to make our society a better one.
