Hey everyone, I’m a first-year MSci Chemist and I’m running for the trips and volunteering role because I feel this role will allow me to develop my organisational skills and also serve the cathsoc directly, by planning trips/pilgrimages and organising volunteering motives. I for one, enjoy visiting religious places and see it as a getaway from the everyday hustle and bustle, a place to reflect on things and increase faith. I see myself as a good fit for this role as I have experience with planning trips and assisting with research of destinations. I feel that it is important to give back to the community, so I can envision myself enjoying the experience of organising volunteering events. Currently, I am volunteering for a student-led project called Atlas Advocacy as a project leader which aims to assist children/teenagers to be socially conscious leaders. Skills gained via this volunteering experience will set me up to be in a great position as Trips and Volunteering officer for cathsoc.
If elected, my priorities will be taking suggestions from cathsoc members, on what places they would like to visit and what pilgrimages they would like to go on and look into possible trip destinations. I would also work with the committee and organise volunteering opportunities for cathsoc members, taking suggestions for the type of volunteering that members would be interested in.
