Many of you may know me as Scapji, an old timer of the society; I joined in 2019 before covid-19 happened and got elected to the Welfare Officer post during the last spring race of 2021. I dearly love our society, while I may have not been the most active (thank you courseworks); I was always behind keeping the society running smoothly, by acting as a signpost and referral for anyone in need. Our society has grown, with currently a 100+ members, this is far more than what we even were a year ago. Covid-19, counter-intuitively, turned out to be an opportunity for the society to open and diversify itself from it's original 20 people gaming unit.

I am running today for President. I want to give myself more means and time to help this society achieve its peak potential. I will use what I learned as a Welfare Officer to make our society more inclusive and dynamic. Combining Discord and soon-to-be inperson events, I will coordinate the BGS committee to organise new events ranging from typical collaborations to laid back social events (including the famously wanted BGS +18 "alcoholised" meeting). We will also do our best to guide Freshers around the UCL life, and gift them the opportunity to make lifelong gaming buddies.

Let's get BGS to the moon for 2022

Hi, I am Harry Softley and I want to be your boardgame society president!

Through being your first-year rep, I have had plenty of experience within the society. I particularly enjoy introducing others to new styles and genres of board games, as tabletop games are a hobby I am extremely passionate about. The opportunities I have had to help run events across the year have made me realise I want to expand on this role of planning and leading events. I have had experiences through leading my past school's film society, and I am looking forward to the challenges this role brings.

As your president, my main goals are:
- To make the society as inclusive and accessible as possible for all the members. Whether you are in London or away/aboard, the society will be open to everyone, everywhere.
- To continue to run as many events as possible, all while striving to include a wider range of activities and games available for others to participate in.
- To start in-person events as soon as it's safe and feasible to do so.

Since joining UCL, the board game society has been my favourite way to socialise and interact with others. I want everyone within the society to share these same experiences as I do. Thank you for your consideration and see you at our next event!
