Having helped with organising the UCL Men's basketball club from the end of last summer, ensuring a season that was run as smoothly as possible given the unfortunate circumstances, I am still fully committed to an even better outcome for next season when COVID settles down. A lot of time will have to be put towards ensuring health and safety of the Club's members and I am prepared to provide my time and be available so that all members can experience the most out of their membership with the help of my support.
I'm Looking forward to getting back on the court just as much as the rest of you and I'm ready to ensure that happens by all means possible.
Thank you.
Prem Sodhi
As a Medical Student it is my job to help others as much as possible to make their lives that little bit easier. Men’s Basketball at UCL runs deeper than just a team sport. The Basketball culture at UCL is a brotherhood and I want to create a safe, welcoming atmosphere where people can contact me in full confidentiality to discuss any problems that they may be facing in any aspect of their lives. I will also be working and learning from the Team UCL mental skills coach to help deal with the phycological strain of high-level competitive university sports as well as managing an important degree. I feel that this will put me in the best possible position to engage with club members in a positive manner and ensure that their wellbeing is preserved and upheld.
Moreover, following the success of the NBA Facebook group, I want to work closely with the social secretaries to put on even more events to bridge the gap between the teams to create one cohesive unit. I aim to do this by hosting monthly screenings of the biggest NBA games and organising events such as quizzes with basketball merchandise prizes for the winner.
