Daniel Langstaff
After previously working with the Bartlett School of Architecture’s Student Society on their ‘Lightbulb Moments’ interview initiative, I wanted to get more involved. As it’s relatively new, I’m interested in helping shape the identity of the society and I am excited for the opportunities that the role of Vice President will provide.

One of my major goals in this position would be to oversee the organisation of more non-academic social events for Bartlett students- these could include an annual ‘Bartlett Ball’ and cross-year drinks. This would bridge the gap between the undergraduate and masters courses and would let people socialise after the seemingly endless isolation forced by coronavirus! Another thing I’d like to focus on would be increasing society membership, aiming at 100 members within the year, and establishing a stronger presence overall, making the society more central in the life of Bartlett students.

As a second-year myself, a majority of my experience of the Bartlett has been in the coronavirus pandemic. This has highlighted to me the necessity of socialising and feeling like part of a wider community. The Bartlett community has, to an extent, been broken down by this global crisis and I believe that this society is a great tool to begin rebuilding this in a way that prioritises the students.

Thank you for your consideration!
