It is indeed difficult to single out “the one” who deserves the very title Head of Events among the floating faces of nominees. Since everything was online this year, most of you won’t know what kind of person I am, although you might be aware of the existence of Jean (Jieun) Kim from the corner of the screen in the Zoom meetings.

To give a brief introduction of myself, I am working as a First Year Representative in the Events team and between the society events, I always return to my world of proofs and theorems since I’m studying Mathematics for the sake of my grades and love of logic. Before coming to UCL, I was the Assistant Secretary General of Marketing at Yale University MUN and the intern at Vitamins3 (a startup founded by UC Berkeley students and graduates). Then I finally became a part of the AI Soc committee to reach out to the speakers for the talks and Women in Health Series for the betterment of our society.

I promised myself to do so many wonderful things for AI society when I first joined the committee. But so many plans have gone without seeing any light. I have this vision to carry out these plans, to invite prominent figures for the events, and to expand career-related opportunities with my loving events team next year.

You might hesitate to choose me as you don’t know me well enough to put your faith in me. But if you feel an inclination, no matter how small or big, to give me a chance, please go ahead: Trust your guts and cast that vote for me!
Zhe Fuh
I am running for the position of Head of Events with a goal of enriching your experience with us. I believe that without you, our members, who have constantly supported us throughout the year, there will be no Events Team.

This year, I have gained valuable experience in event planning and have hosted several keynote speeches as an events officer. Hence, I have strong organisational and communication skills necessary to manage an event. If elected, I will:
• Tailor events for our members regardless of their location during the academic year
• Organise a pioneer in internship series covering a variety of prospective careers in the AI field
• Continue our good work of holding exciting events related to the latest breakthroughs in AI throughout the year

I would like to increase my contribution to the society and I believe I am ready to take up the role as Head of Events due to my existing skillset and experience. Thank you for reading my manifesto.

Surabhi Luthra
The opportunity to be the Head of Events of the Artificial Intelligence Society this year has allowed me to organise a range of educational and social events for our members. The role has enabled me to form relationships with academic and industry experts from across the world whilst also building stronger foundations within the society. Having created these connections and collaborations, continuing in this role will allow me to further expand our network through new pathways as well as strengthening these existing relationships.

We’ve seen that despite the challenges of not being able to interact face-to-face, the passion and interest for AI at UCL has upheld the participation in our online events. My aim as the Head of Events will be to ensure a greater audience is able to access our events as AI continues to extend to more interdisciplinary fields. This involves diversifying the range of themes that the events are based around and introducing new competitions and series to make events more interactive for all members.

I hope that through the various new opportunities we aim to provide, this society continues to be a route through which everyone can learn and explore the exciting developments in AI.
