Yan Chen
Hi, art lovers!!!

This is Yan Chen who regards herself as an aesthete, though hasn't been trained for professional artistic skills lol. The reason I joined this art society is exactly cause I'm the kind of person, like you guys, who appreciate beauty& art, enjoy spending an entire day wandering around in the Art museum/exhibitions, exploring the story behind every masterpiece and seeing the beauty in the world.

I believe after staying at home for nearly one year, we are so desperate to go outside, go to the exhibitions, capture the beauty of the great outdoors by your paint pens, cameras etc. any way you like. Therefore, we would organise lots of hiking and picnic events for our members who can also invite their friends or boy/girlfriends, and hold art workshops for our members which encourage the awareness and appreciation of art.
Deveshi Malhotra
I am standing for the position of Art Society President as I am confident in my ability to lead. Art is my passion and having engaged in it for more than ten years I have developed a liking for various styles be it acrylic on canvas, watercolor, pen, sketching, charcoal, as well as sculpting in different mediums such as bronze and paper maché. I was elected the President of the Art Society at my school and was the Studio Manager for the UCL Art Society for 2020.
'What you do has a far greater impact than what you say' and hence as the leader of the Art Society I will be sure to organize multiple interactive events and activities for everyone. I will transform the collective vision of the Art society into reality and with teamwork, we will ACHIEVE MORE. I have had three Art exhibitions in the last three years and have successfully sold my art pieces and raised funds for a social cause. I envisage that as a society we can organize interesting events and simultaneously increase awareness among the student body about multiple causes.
As the President, I will welcome feedback and suggestions to enhance the student experience in the society. I will ensure that the society functions smoothly and everyone has a delightful and creative time!!

It would be an honour to be re-elected as your Art Society President. This last year I have successfully led our committee and I am so proud of everything we have achieved together. It has been a joy to see feedback from members become events and collaborations. With a brand new website, online gallery, thorough risk assessment, and incredible flexibility we have adapted to the pandemic to provide a space to create and connect. I certainly hope you've enjoyed our events as much as I have.
But what we achieved this year is only the tip of the iceberg of what I'd like to contribute to Art Society. I'd love to have the opportunity to implement all the ideas and feedback about in person events for more casual making / painting, return to lifedrawing and our usual scheduled gallery trips and more. I'd like to set up an alumni network to connect all UCL artists and create a page of endorsed artists so we can support those of you who want to make a career of your art. I'm so excited for the end of year exhibition (which we're hoping to run in person) and want to continue our collaboration with Students for Global Health by running an annual term 1 exhibition with them for charity and awareness. Depending on global situation, I would like to arrange a residential trip, perhaps to Paris!
Art Society is my most cherished part of being a UCL student. I want to help it continue to be the Society I love and to support its ongoing evolution as I go into my final year here.
Thank you!
