Hi all! I'm Ailin (you're welcome to call me Liz), a second-year Politics and IR student hyped about real uni life.
As the treasurer, apart from the usual 'keeping the tab' on inviting speakers and wine and nibbles for soc socials (I am proficient in excel and a few coding languages so [wink]) I hope to employ my not-aggressive-at-all debate and negotiation skills to liaise with the SU if need be. Possibly as a "sequela" from zoom university, you bet I'll be checking my inbox every hour to keep on top of any administrative updates/requirements. I'm a true team player and will do my best to help with the smooth running and planning of events over the next academic year.
Although I'm neither an artist nor an art historian, in my own studies I'm particularly interested in the role of representation in society as well as the construction of identity through "informal" history. However, although business is what makes the world go around nowadays, its role in art is often misunderstood and cast in a negative light. Through my studies in Art Business at Sotheby's NYC and internship in journalism specialising in 'culture and commerce', I gained an immense understanding of the role of capital in fueling art, and I believe that what we celebrate culturally are not accidents but conscious choices. In other words, money can be a force of good! I'm also really interested in art spaces of the future and their business implications.
