Name:
Ilyas Benmouna
Why are you standing?:

My name is Ilyas, a third year Maths and Physics student and I am running to be your next Activities Officer!

Throughout my 3 years here at UCL, I’ve been involved in so many activities, whether it be a member or a committee member for so many clubs and societies. To name a few, VP of Red Star FC, Bangla Society, Arab Society and the list goes on. Taking part in such a wide range of societies led me to becoming Societies Officer this year, where I learnt a lot about the ins and outs of how the union works, allowing me to know what it really takes to make a change!

• I will get the Union to reconsider the sports grounds that team UCL clubs play on, particularly football clubs playing at hackney marshes. Making sure all sports clubs have good quality facilities at a without having to travel too far and have grounds that are reliable and work for you and your team

• Re-evaluate the room booking system, allowing societies to book rooms with less notice and making sure we make the most of the space we have. I look to continue the work currently in progress to lobby for more spaces for societies to book.

• Rework the structure for addressing bullying complaints, something which was not dealt with as seriously in the past, making sure all societies are inclusive to all UCL students, regardless of race, gender and accessibility needs.

• Improve accessibility for disabled students within UCL Activities, creating more opportunities to accommodate disabled students.
