Why are you standing?:

Hi! I’m Sandy and I am an anti-racist activist. I’m running because I want to equip students with the skills and resources to tackle institutional racism and make the links between race, welfare support, gender equality and our increasingly marketised higher education system. BME students are often the hardest hit by higher education cuts, austerity, strict immigration controls, socioeconomic instability. And I believe that through collective organising, we can tackle these issues and make UCL a transformative space for BME students.

I aim to:

- Fight for quality welfare support for BME students, by pushing for crisis accommodation, free travel cards for students in need and increased funding for mental health services

- Use student forums and society collaborations to build bridges across cultures and stand united against all racism, xenophobia and discrimination

- Provide accessible political education workshops and trainings to build capacity to collectively organise around campaigns like Decolonise UCL

- Support the fight for free education by resisting changes to higher education that hit BME students the hardest

We are not tokens, we are students with a claim to the space. And we are better together.

Vote SANDRA for a supportive, transformative and united BME Campaign.
