Why are you standing?:

Hi, I am Yang Ping (Teresa), currently a full-time student studying Mathematics Education in IOE. I am here running for Hall REP.

I have been working in international schools for 9 years in Beijing, Chengdu and Shanghai since I graduated in 2010, during which time I mainly worked as a mathematics teacher, while in my last school which is called Yew Wah International School as both Grade Level Leader & Head of Department. This allows me chances to cooperate with people from many other countries and gain rich experience communicating with them.

Besides, I started my independent life (live without financial support from parents including tuition fee) since I was 18. I’ve got experience and advice for you to achieve better in your daily life, study life, as well as in your future career. Even though I won’t be selected as a hall rep, you are still welcome to come to me when you need any help.

I would be more than happy to

• Be a responsible link between you, Accommodation and the University!

• Be an active member of Welfare and Community Zone!

• Try my best to help when you need me!

Hi!

Thank you for taking the time to make your contribution to democracy by looking at the candidates and hopefully also choosing a candidate you think will make a great fit.

Quick summary of what I want to improve:

Lighting Conditions in Rooms

To solve this issue in the long term, I am going to try to convince UCL Residences of installing more lights. In the short term, by organising a bulk order for everyone who hasn't bought additional lighting yet. This way, at least the cost is lower.

Wascher/Dryer not working sometimes

One time a friend of mine was even billed for washing cycles that failed to start. He emailed the company, which turned out to be very cooperative and returned him his money without any questions asked. Given this experience, I am convinced that I will be able to solve the issue with the machines not working at certain times as well.

Living Together (Vandalism/Silence at Nighttime)

We all share Schafer, and it is also our shared responsibility to take care of it and each other. I want to act as a mediator when complaints are raised and create an environment of respect and care for each other.

Hey! I hope you have all settled in alright and have enjoyed your first few weeks at UCL. I am really glad to be staying and Schafer House and have met so many wonderful people so far. I want to make sure we all get our money's worth this year and have a safe, clean, and welcoming space to live and learn in. For me, that would include making sure our facilities are working/quickly fixed, working on lowering the cost of washing/drying, and ensuring that we all feel comfortable and welcome in our community. Furthermore, I would suggest we invest in a few items that we could share as a hall, for example, a couple of irons for our clothes.

If you have any other suggestions, there is a good chance you will catch me in the common room - I’ll probably be playing table soccer.

I am not yet familiar with the concerns of students staying at Prankerd but would definitely want to hear about those as well! Feel free to send me an email at johara.meyer.19@ucl.ac.uk if you have any questions or concerns I might be able to help with!

Hey guys!

My name is Anna. I’ve got to say, I love it here at Schafer. The people are incredibly nice and supportive and therefore I would love to give back in whatever way I can! Whether its scrubbing sharpie marks off tables or organizing pizza socials, I believe everybody here deserves to have the best living experience possible and I will make that happen!

Here are some ideas:

Social events: Poker nights, film screenings and buffet dinner are just a fraction of what is possible. With such events I would like to create a sense of community in our halls. And since I don’t plan on starting a dictatorship, I would like your guys' contribution about ideas with online polls!

Sustainability: In the common room, there is a great trash separation system. Why shouldn’t we have that in our kitchens too? Furthermore, we have enough space for a compost garden outside. Let’s strive for a clean future at Schafer and Prankerd.

Support: Exploring the option of getting additional funding is top-priority for me. University is expensive and there should be support for those in need!

If you agree with what I’m saying, please vote for me!

Anna
