By living at boarding school for 5 years before coming to Campbell House, I am someone who is accustomed to all the various perks and discomforts of living away from home. I've dealt with broken furniture, dodgy heating and messy kitchens for a while and I think that all this random experience will be particularly useful in being your Hall Rep.

As your rep, my door will always be open for anyone who has complaints about their situation in Campbell and I won't rest until they are resolved. One of my main goals will be to improve the living standards throughout the house as a whole - I have often heard people complaining about broken and outdated appliances, so I will definitely be pushing to the Union for all around upgrades to the house.

Most importantly, however, I believe that the rent we currently pay is far too exorbitant and, as a strong supporter of UCL's Cut the Rent campaign, I will ensure the Campbell House is fully involved in taking the steps to reduce rent at UCL - maybe resulting in a bit of extra cash for all of us at the end of the year!

Even though only a few weeks have passed since we’ve all arrived at Campbell House, we as a community have grown incredibly close with each other - I consider us all a family of sorts! As Hall Rep, my goals would be to create events that would help East and West mingle and get to know each other (as there are few opportunities to do so despite only being right cross from one another) in addition to helping students destress and have fun! Ideas include cooking classes, game nights, as well as weekend brunches. if possible. I am extremely dedicated to helping everyone at Campbell address any issues that may come about and I hope to be a Rep that everyone feels comfortable approaching. Thanks for reading! 🙂
Saskia Ackermann

Dear hall mates, I’m Sassi, a 3rd year Political Science student from Germany, and I want to become your hall rep. So far, I have had a great time with you guys in Campbell East and West, however I think that there are several issues to improve in our residences. Beginning with:

➤ Properly equipped kitchens - I think everyone of us is a bit annoyed about the state of our kitchens, whether because the stove tops and the ovens aren’t working or there are simply not enough fridges. I want to change that! For the amount of money we are paying, we deserve well-equipped kitchens!
➤ A laundry room for Campbell West: Sick of carrying your laundry to Campbell East and/or of waiting for a free washing machine on a Sunday afternoon? I want to put an end to this.
➤ Social events: During my time living and traveling abroad and studying in Hamburg, I’ve experienced how it is to live in hostels and halls with a lot of different people from all over the world. The best way to get to know each other are shared activities! With your help, I will organize events, such as cooking evenings, barbecues and parties (Halloween is coming 🎃).
➤ Open and honest leadership - Above all, I want to be there for you, act on your behalf and represent your interests in the Students’ Union. If elected I will offer „office hours“ where everyone can come and see me to voice their concerns. For sure, I will also make time for you whenever the need arises (If possible, please not at 6 a.m. 🤣).

George Reeves-Williams
Making the most out of your first year is really important to me, in these next few months you’re will meet your best mates, explore corners of this city that you never knew existed and maybe do a bit of studying here and there. I am running to make sure you have a smashing year. I lived in Campbell last year and unfortunately there was a real lack of community and I want to change that. I will run monthly socials, starting with drinks in the common room followed by a quality night out clubbing or exploring one of London’s quirky bars (think mini-golf and speakeasies hidden behind fridges). Sometimes it can be tough to find someone to talk to about things that are on your mind. Adapting to university life can be difficult and stressful. For those of us who want to chill-out, sit down, catch-up and have a chinwag over a good cup of tea and a biscuit, I will run weekly tea mornings. I’m also interested in setting up a Campbell mentorship programme, putting you in touch with one of last year’s Campbell residents, who will be able to give you some advice. All best George x
Laura Perez
My goal is to make Campbell House our HOME!

Having lived in different environments and shared residence with a great diversity of people in the past, managing housing and time together, I understand the importance of building a strong community.

For this, I will focus on the following:

-Create a safe environment where everyone is valued and respected

-Endeavor to direct suggestions and complaints to the managers, and ensure they are taken seriously and posted for people to vote on changes

-Focus on sharing time together to catch up with your friends and build bonds e.g. monthly pizza and movie nights

-Care for your physical and mental wellbeing, ensuring that support reaches you. When you feel good, you strive

I can't wait to use invest on our hall community and deliver the RESULTS you want, which is why YOUR vote matters!

Being in a position of authority is less about the power you hold and more about the people you serve.
Little more than a year back, I was given said authority at a school level and despite the piling assignments, never-ending deadlines and duty lists, I would strangely say that I enjoyed the experience.
After 15 minutes of brain storming through a countless number of promises, I concluded that the one and only promise I would like to keep is this- to embody the very meaning of a Hall Representative. I would be honoured to be a advisor to your problems, a facilitator to your solutions and of course, a representative of your views!
Priyam Deka
Hey there ! I'm Priyam Deka and I'm running for Hall Rep :) I think I would be a good fit for this role since my priorities would definitely be in line with the students. I'm an international student with strong leadership skills but most importantly execution capabilities.

My priorities include;
1. pushing for the highest living conditions for us - including a better laundry room with subsidy on laundry
2. active campaigning against rent reduction for our house.
3.More efficient garbage disposal/bigger bins in room ( you know how quickly those fill up ! )
4.Instead of fruitlessly looking through a heavy pile of amazon cardboard boxes for yours- being notified when your package arrives.
5. Monthly Whatsapp surveys/suggestions on how to improve house
6. ( bonus ) Effort to make early morning fire alarm drills to afternoon so you can catch up on your sleep after that wild night out...
7. suggestions / complaints always welcome - room 103 in CE

Instead of making 1000 promises and fulfilling one ( or none !) I'm here to walk my talk and get work done so we can enjoy our money's worth. I believe that performing well academically is not feasible till we are not 100% comfortable in our living space, I would like to be able to take part in the movement of transforming this place from our houses to our homes with a fun but caring environment.

Let's get it done.

Bomnuri Kim
I want a closer community!

We never know what we will become in the future. You might see your flatmate in the future and either just say hello, or you could go for dinner together to catch up. I want to make that kind of difference between us.

As an international student, I was worried about moving to London and adapting to the new environment. By environment, I mostly meant the people surrounding me. What I realised after I arrived was that I should not have worried because I found the people here super warm and welcoming. (Especially people from Campbell House) You guys have inspired me to become a hall rep so that I can have an opportunity to give back what you gave me; the warmth, laughter, and love.

Being in a university isn’t just for education and opportunities. It’s also about connecting with new people and making memories you won’t forget. I want Campbell House to be the stage for some of those scenes!

Your words will be heard sincerely and I will take action.

Thank you for enduring the cheesiness.
If you think you could handle some more, have a look at my “poster”!
