We’re developing our spaces, starting with 25 Gordon St.

Work is underway to redevelop floors 1, 2, 3 and 4 – creating a brand-new Advice Service, a new and improved Phineas Bar and better teaching spaces for the Maths department.

That means the Wolfson Study and Phineas will be closed from the end of term two – Friday 22 March with Phineas reopening in September 2019

The Wolfson Study was created, replacing a bar, to meet the need for more study space. UCL was growing, and free seats around campus were getting harder to find. The Study did its job, providing the perfect combination of plug sockets, microwaves and Print @ UCL printers. Plans were underway for the new Student Centre – with its multi-level-1000-seat-great-view-24-hour-amphitheatre of study – and now it’s complete and open for business, it’s time to say goodbye to the Wolfson.

We’re always pushing UCL to do better, and more study space has been the priority for a long time. We pushed them to put plans together for the Student Centre, to improve the open study spaces at the IoE, to refurbish the graduate hubs/study spaces, we pushed to make it easier to find a spare desk with the handy desk usage page and we pushed to make more temporary space available in term three. We’ll keep pushing to improve UCL to provide the space and facilities you need to study here.
