What do you hope to achieve in the role if you are elected?
Combat against racism and discrimination:
Improved efficiency when addressing reports on racial violence and discrimination
Develop courses, skills sessions and society events
Create more safe spaces to talk about racism
Give BME students the leadership skills they need after UCL
Reduce attainment gap:
BME student Support Services including mental, social, emotional support
Working with staff to encourage inclusivity in lecture
Cultural preservation and education – remember your past:
Events on culture discovery
Support services for people who are stuck in two cultures
What will you bring to this role (e.g. experience, skills or qualities)?
We are motivated and determined to ease the issues that BME students face and to help make university a more enjoyable experience. In the past we have been dedicated to volunteering projects we feel passionate about. We are keen to carry this mindset forward in this role, especially when this endeavor is something that we personally feel committed to because of our previous experiences.
We are always ready to listen to you to make sure we can fully represent BME students at UCL.
