All team trials, pre-season and core activity will be fully compliant with Government and UCL COVID-19 guidance

Team Trials

If you’re hoping to join one of our competitive sports teams this year, you’ll need to keep up to date with pre-season information from each respective club.

Most student-athletes’ first contact with sports clubs will be at the Digital Welcome Fair (30th September and 3rd October). BUCS and LUSL competitions against other Universities are suspended for Term 1, but our Clubs are currently working on their own internal offering for Term 1 activity.

The committee members of each club will be running the selection process for each club, so get in contact if you’re interested (via email or Facebook).

There will be multiple opportunities to try out, so there is nothing to worry about. And don’t forget, there are plenty of clubs whose teams don’t play in BUCS, who may play more local leagues.

Pre-season is an important time to ensure you are preparing your body for the demands of a strenuous season ahead. We want to ensure you are reaching your true athletic potential, without injury or illness across the course of the season. Each club have structured pre-season sessions whereby you can progressively build your fitness levels, develop your strength and power and work on any areas of development before the first fixture.

We also provide extra support services for our highest performing teams within BUCS. If you are aiming for a 1st XV or 2nd XV you may get access to Strength and Conditioning support, Physiotherapy, Nutritional workshops and Mental skills coaching. Please see the High Performance Program for further information.

Majority of Team UCL sports clubs initiate their pre-season training in local facilities, so be prepared to hit the ground running when you arrive.

Keep an eye on clubs via Facebook, Instagram and Twitter for up to date information.
