We know how important our outlets are to meeting and connecting with fellow students and friends, so if you’re in London now or are planning to be in the city for the start of term one, we’re ready to greet you. We’ve carefully considered which spaces to open first, with your safety, and the safety of the students who work in our spaces, our number one priority.

We are now in the process of slowly reopening some of our outlets and we cannot wait to welcome you back. How our spaces work will feel a little different to usual so that we can keep you safe. One-way systems, lots of signage and floor markings, more outdoor service and in some cases ordering via an app will become our new normal.

We’ll share our current reopening plans with you, but please be aware that plans may change depending on the developing situation.

The plans…

Bloomsbury Café is open for you now. We’re serving our full hot drinks menu and you’ll be able to get some nice bites too. Opening hours are currently 11:00 - 15:00.

Print Room Café will open on Monday 21 September, with Gordon’s Café opening later in term one.

The Institute Bar will reopen its doors on Monday 21 September. Our full hot and cold food menu will be available from day one.

Our shop, The Hanger, will be selling UCL branded merchandise and all things purple for TeamUCL at the start of term one. Over the summer, we’ll also launch a new online shop where you’ll be able to buy selected items with international delivery. We’ll keep you posted on this.

We’ll be ready to welcome you for your first Bloomsbury Fitness workout on Tuesday 1 September. Details on how the gym will operate going forward can be found on the Bloomsbury Fitness website

The details:

Bloomsbury Café: Open Monday - Friday 11:00 - 15:00
Bloomsbury Fitness: Open from Tuesday 1 September 2020
The Hanger: Open from Monday 21 September
Institute Bar: Open from Monday 21 September
Gordons Café: During Term One
Print Room Café: Open from Monday 21 September
Phineas: During Term One

Once these spaces have reopened safely, we’ll consider spaces in the Lewis’s Building; Huntley, Mully’s and the George Farha Cafe. We’ll carefully open more of our facilities as the year progresses and inline with the latest advice. You’ll be the first to know.

Things we’ll be doing to keep you safe

Everything we do feels a bit different now, and this will be the same for our cafes and bars on campus. We’ve put all necessary measures in place to keep you safe.

When you’ll return there will be:

  • one way in and out systems in some of our spaces
  • social distancing floor markings to remind us all to stay a safe distance apart
  • signage to explain the new rules to follow
  • multiple hand sanitiser stations all across campus and our spaces
  • a new app to order food and drinks in some of our outlets

We’re very much looking forward to seeing you all again and to welcome you back.
