Name of Event: Making Cards

Volunteer Role: We actively combat loneliness by connecting isolated older people with their communities and supporting them to join group activities. Our greeting Card project is run by dedicated group of volunteers by recycling old cards to make them into beautiful new ones to send to our members. For some older people, these will be only cards they receive this year, and for this reason we think it is really important to keep the project going. We have some lovely volunteers who come to our office and make birthday cards and we create a new group to increase the numbers of cards that we send every year.

We would like volunteers to:

  • Socialise with the older community members throughout the activity.
  • Befriend older people who live alone and are at risk of becoming isolated.
  • Create and make Birthday Cards for isolated people
  • Tidy up and clear away after the event.
