Tuesday 24 April 2018 (All day)

Name of Event: London Lifeboat Day

Volunteer Role: Volunteer Collectors - London Lifeboat Day is an opportunity to volunteer your time to support the Royal National Lifeboat Institution. We are looking for enthusiastic teams or individuals to engage with the public, raising awareness and funds for the charity whilst of course having fun working alongside a positive team of volunteers.

The RNLI provides a 24 hour search and rescue service at the coast and on the River Thames, as well as seasonal lifeguards, water safety and education initiatives and flood rescue response. The RNLI is also working internationally to provide at-risk communities with the knowledge, equipment and skills they need to reduce loss of life. Last year our volunteer lifeboat crews launched 8,228 times and rescued an average of 22 people a day. It costs around £460,000 a day to run the RNLI and we rely on the public’s generosity to keep the service running.

There are no particular skills required to join us on the day, we are just looking for people who are energetic and confident talking to the public. We will email out a briefing before the event giving you all the information you need to know.

So what’s holding you back? Now is the time to sign up and select where you would like to collect across London. Ideally we would love you for the full day or in the morning and evening rush hour slots – this gives you best chance of taking the champion collectors prize. The challenge is to beat last year’s champion collector - Paul’s epic bucket raised £889.17!!

If you would rather help us out by being a depot holder for the day/half day or think you can host a fundraising event again please get in touch – we will provide guidance/support so don’t worry if you haven’t done anything like it before.

When: Tuesday 24 April, with an option of four shifts: 07:00 – 09.30, 10:00 – 13:00, 13:00-16:00, 16:30 – 19:00 ( you can do as many shifts as you would like)
