Friday 16 February 2018 (All day)

Name of Event: Knowing Me, Knowing You: Migrant Integration Policy Workshop

Volunteer Role: Could you facilitate discussions for a group of young people, to help them (and you) understand better barriers to social integration for migrants? Do you want to learn from experts and peers how you can make society more welcoming and public policy is made? Join us on 16 Feb. Free lunch + travel available. Contact education@wonderfoundation.org.uk

If other students would like to participate in the workshops, which will be fun and insightful, they are welcome.

This day conference will bring together young people from migrant, refugee and settled backgrounds to hear from experts, politicians and each other. It’s a chance to meet new people, make new friends and share ideas.

The conference includes a participatory workshop - a chance for everybody to come together and share their experiences of being a migrant or welcoming migrants, and to try to step into the shoes of a vulnerable young migrant. This will set the scene for us to come up with initiatives to make a more welcoming environment - at the local, national and European level - a reality.

Additional info:

* If you speak a second language, especially Middle Eastern or African languages, Spanish or Portuguese, young people with little confidence and low English levels will be able to get involved in ways that they wouldn’t otherwise.

* If you would like to build your portfolio, we can offer certificates and opportunities to blog/ vlog about this experience.

* FREE LUNCH + TRAVEL - we can compensate you for reasonable travel expenses (with receipts) for travel up to 100km from London.

* If you want to bring a group (e.g. young people you tutor, a youth group etc anyone aged 16+ is welcome) please get in touch! We may well be able to compensate their travel too.
