Name of Event: The Big Pedal

Volunteer Role: The Big Pedal is an exciting national event that 1000’s of schools take part in each year. The event encourages schools to think about traveling sustainably to school, they will rack up points for each child, pupil, teacher or parent who cycles in. Many activities are put on locally by each school who sign up across the UK. Our Sustrans officers work in schools to promote cycling all year round, so this is a very busy time of year for them as lots of activities and events are concentrated into these two weeks (23 April – 4 May).  They have a jam packed schedule during this two week period and could do with some event assistance.

We would love some enthusiastic volunteers to assist our schools project officers to deliver school based events. These events may be assemblies, Bike It Breakfasts, Cycle Skill rides, Bike Discos.

Develop your confidence, encourage more young people to travel sustainably, experience working with young people and most importantly, have fun!
