Name of Event: Bedford River Festival 

Volunteer Role: We are committed to increasing the number of potential blood stem cell donors in the UK so that there is a donor for everyone who needs one. Every 20 mins someone in the UK is diagnosed with a blood cancer such as leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma. For many of those affected, a blood stem cell donation from a matching donor represents their best, and sometimes only chance of beating this devastating disease. 

Can you help us to register potential life savers? If so we would be delighted to have you on board.

The role involves:

• Providing a warm welcome to all visitors

• Registering potential lifesavers (training provided)

• Answering basic questions about the process and commitment involved in registering (training provided)

• Handing out flyers

• Checking registration forms to ensure all relevant data is collected

• Handing out flyers

• Helping to save lives!

Requirements:

  • Warm and friendly
  • Maintain confidentiality
  • Be able to stand on their feet for a  few hours
  • Have a genuine interest in the work of DKMS

When: We have a stand at the Bedford River Festival from Saturday 14 – Sunday 15 July. You can choose to do one or both days. We would need you to be available between 11:00 - 20:00, after which you can enjoy the festival.
