Friday 20 March 202017.00 to 19.00

The Annual AGM (Annual General Meeting) is back, and it is time to choose those who will succeed the current (irreplaceable) committee.

The roles available on the committee are as follows:
President - Ambreen Shaikh (current)
Heart and soul of the club, your job is to delegate, delegate and delegate to everyone and anyone (especially the union). Then cry in the library when you’re blanked on the committee chat and do the job yourself whilst sacrificing your mental health.

Treasurer - Chris Green (current)
The calculating brain, you’ve got to have spreadsheets and more spreadsheets, submit funding applications and most importantly, secure sponsorship

Secretary - Alex Sells (current)
Coal-fired workhorse of the club. Serves the president’s every need without being asked, and never gets nor asks for recognition. Must be mathematically sound to deal with the administrative matters that arise (as the president historically does not possess these skills), and also must possess a sharp creative streak to attempt (probably in a futile manner) to top the previous secretary’s digital and fashion designs. Can’t be too witty otherwise may get banned from social media for being funnier and more popular than the president

Vice-President - Brynmor Saunders (current)
You help the President with applications, dealing with the union and organisational tasks. Must be able to explode into a fiery temper upon the president’s behest. Organises BUCS Indies and LIUF.

Men’s 1st Team Captain - Adorján Fóti (current)
An intense role (judging by our current), you lead the men into battle equipped with a colourful vocabulary, and a heavy team bag. Sort out BUCS Weekends. Has an obligation to win Varsity. (Must have previously fenced on the first team)

Women’s 1st Team Captain - Addison Billing (current)
Similar to the Men’s Captain role, you organise BUCS Weekends and any other matches throughout the year. Has an obligation to win Varsity. (Must have previously fenced on the first team).

Men’s 2nd Team Captain - Adam Sparkes (current)
A more demanding captain’s role, you’re expected to pull together a team for weekly Wednesday matches, deal with reimbursement, pack a team bag and post decent insta content from matches.

Women’s 2nd Team Captain - Maria Kidyamkina (current)
A more demanding captain’s role, you’re expected to pull together a team for weekly Wednesday matches, deal with reimbursement, pack a team bag and post decent insta content from matches.

Social Secretary - Rob Williams, Caiti Maxwell & James Fotherby (current)
An ability to have fun on one’s own is required. Perks include being able to spend the monthly social budget on drinking alone. You must organise regular social events for club members.

Novice Representative - Zsophia Keresztes & Emmy Pu (current)
You should attend novice trainings on Wednesday, and encourage novice integration into the club.

Armourer - Alexa Marroquin & Wan Hee Tang (current)
You need to keep a kit inventory, repair weapons and order new kit. Being good with your hands is also recommended.

Women’s and Welfare Officer - Nowsha Farha, Wei Yu Chan & Bryan Cheong (current)
This is a new combined role. In addition to attending welfare training and organising welfare events, you need to organise the This Girl Can session. Helping with LIUF is compulsory while completing other menial committee tasks is recommended.

Candidates are expected to do a post (on the Facebook event linked below) declaring their intention to run for a position. Said post is obligated to be humorous. On the day of the AGM, you must give a speech and be prepared to answer questions from club members. It is highly encouraged you talk to those in the current role if you’re looking to run for any positions.
