Opportunity: Restoration Volunteer, Q stock

Opportunity description: 

Do you like working with your hands? Do you love trains? Would you like to help restore a 1930s Underground train to its former glory?

We are looking for volunteers with commitment, enthusiasm and a passion for trains to help with the restoration of our 1930s District line Q stock train. We especially welcome volunteers with technical skills, but also those with less experience and a willingness to learn.

You will be working as part of a friendly team of volunteers from a variety of professional backgrounds. The work takes place at our Museum Depot at Acton on Thursdays during the day, and one Saturday a month. You can join one or both working parties. We especially welcome applicants to the Saturday team meeting once a month.

Commitment - more information: 
We ask that you can offer at least 1 day a month for an ongoing project. The restoration will run over several years, but we welcome shorter periods of commitment, too. We are happy to discuss this at your interview. You must be able to attend: Interviews: Wednesday 15 or Thursday 16 January Induction and training: Thursday 30 and Friday 31 January You must be 18 years or above for this role.
