Age UK Islington
Age UK Islington is a charity which uses innovative techniques to provide support to Islington residents over the age of 16, enabling them to use self-help approaches to manage their own health and wellbeing. We focus on prevention: identifying those in need facilitating support before situations escalate. This, in turn, reduces over reliance on or inappropriate use of public funded services -…
Description
  • You will help extend our reach and create awareness of the many facets of the work of Age UK Islington by writing and scheduling posts for our social media sites including Facebook and Twitter.
  • You'll be working closely with our communications manager to create new angles and content to showcase the broad support that we provide for our clients.
  • You will also help to research organisations that we connect clients to.
  • This will involve research on websites, speaking to people on the phone and updating information on forms to accurately reflect the information that we need to let clients make an informed choice.
  • You will help research and write knowledge articles that will be shared with clients and staff.
Duties
  • This role will be based from home and you will need access to a mobile phone and a computer as we do not provide these.
  • We think this role will give any volunteer lots of scope both to learn about the work we do but also to learn new skills and make a positive impact on the client groups we support.
  • Lots of opportunities to take responsibility for an area and develop it, suggest new ways of doing things, see how we can improve what we do etc.
Who will the volunteers be working with?
Mostly Age UK Islington's communications manager but also Age UK Islington staff and volunteers.
Training
We will ask you to attend a general induction session and complete some safeguarding courses. Our communications manager will show you what to do and be available to help and support you.
