About the organisation

More and more people have come across and want to learn about Asperger Syndrome in the workplace.

There is a high incidence of Aspergers (often undetected) in the top echelons of the professional, technical and business sectors. They tend to be very intelligent but find it difficult to flourish or even survive in the large corporations that could best utilise and benefit from their talent. People with Asperger Syndrome (AS) are a most valuable resource, just waiting to be tapped.

An agency is desperately required to provide fulfilling, appropriate employment for people with AS and to help management provide more suitable working environments for their mutual benefit. Companies should reward the talents of this unique part of their workforce and reap the rewards – increased product and profitability.

Aspierations intends to be that organisation.

We are inspired to action, fired by the realisation that so many are affected by this condition. Sharing and exchanging experiences, resources, advice and information with others can certainly help to find best practice. Having discovered that similar initiatives are beginning in other European countries, we have been motivated to create some practical, pragmatic and positive solutions.

ASPIeRATIONS is an advocate group for people with Asperger Syndrome (AS) in the corporate world. Volunteers will work across every aspect of our social enterprise - getting involved with marketing, development, PR, social media, fundraising and more! You will be in constant contact with a wide range of people to spread awareness about neurodiversity and to dispel misconceptions about neuro-diverse traits. You will be primarily be involved in our Campaign Campus initiative which aims to head-hunt individuals with AS at universities. You may also have the opportunity to attend meetings at very senior levels. This is a great opportunity for you to get involved with our Campaign Campus innovative outreach initiative and to gain hands-on experience in the various aspects of running an organisation

We also are looking for people interested in doing an internship with ASPIeRATIONS - contact us to find out more!

Students involved in the campaign have the opportunity to experiment novel ways of promoting AS i.e. via social media, events, films and performances. Volunteers will be involved in a range of activities i.e. event planning, fundraising, giving conference/talks.

Skills needed:

Enthusiasm, creativity, passion and reliability. We welcome a range of different skills and will allocate roles to volunteers depending on their interests and strengths

No specific training required but there may be the opportunity for some volunteers to be trained by Psychologists with a specialism in Autism if part of their role involves holding talks/conferences.
