Play and Chat Volunteer – Bromley / Chigwell

During afternoons of diagnostic assessments, parents/carers are given feedback and a possible diagnosis of child/young person. Whilst our clinicians spend time with the parents/carers the child/young person (CYP) is left alone to play – we need to make sure that the child/young person is happy and safe.

This is an important role, as well as spending time talking and/ or playing with a CYP, parents will be relaxed knowing that their CYP is being looked after during this time.

Our organisation provides inclusive services to local adults, children and families living on low incomes, and support young people from disadvantaged backgrounds’ to achieve and develop new skills. We run services from Monday to Saturday every week. We are seeking volunteers to help, engage and support children with English, Maths and Science on Saturdays, as well as help adults and families in various activities. IntoUniversity Student Mentor

The IntoUniversity Mentoring Scheme pairs university student mentors with young people aged 10-17 from some of London’s most disadvantaged areas, providing them with tailored one-to-one support to boost their aspirations and achieve their full potential.

What does it involve?

➢ Receive initial training and ongoing support.

➢ Work one-to-one with an IntoUniversity student for one hour at least twice a month.

War Child UK feels strongly that young people who themselves have been affected by conflict, are the best advocates for their peers still living in war zones. We are looking for UCL volunteers to support staff and volunteers activities. As a Volunteer Learning Party Facilitator you will deliver creative activities that support children’s development and foster learning through art and play. You will be working with Latin American children (mainly Spanish-speakers) aged 5-12 years old, who have recently migrated to the UK and are not yet in school or have only just started. As a result they speak little to no English.
