Join the Community Programmes team as a vital volunteer for our older people’s sessions and help bring joy and friendship to the lives of some of the most isolated members of our community.

Gentle Gardening Volunteer

Make local green spaces more colourful and vibrant through helping with planting and weeding. Volunteering in the sessions will also improve health and reduce isolation of participants by growing food to share and supporting those who need help to get involved or just want to have a chat. Gardening has been proven to have therapeutic benefits, helping alleviate isolation and depression though the combination of gentle exercise, getting outside, growing plants and social interaction.

From as little as 1 hour per week, we have different volunteering opportunities across London for friendly people to facilitate such as Healthy Eating Volunteering, with the aim of providing an environment where vulnerable adult service users feel valued.

We are looking for caring, reliable people to visit isolated Bangladeshi Elders living in the Holborn area; providing company, friendship and a link to the wider community.

Front of House Volunteer

Every year thousands of visitors walk through the doors of the Grant Museum to visit our exceptional collection. We are looking for enthusiastic and friendly individuals to assist with the Museum’s Front of House, acting as a first point of contact for visitors seeking information on the Museum’s collection and processing sales from the Museum’s gift shop. You will also research and write certificates for the Museum’s Friends programme, and there will be others areas of the Museum’s work you can contribute to as the role develops.

Family Learning Volunteer

Our family learning programme aims to promote UCL’s collections to families in local communities by producing fun and enjoyable activities offering a unique hands-on experience from holding a hawksbill turtle to stroking the fur of a leopard. Computer Drop-In Support

Organisation: 

Do you like the idea of sharing your knowledge in using computers, including accessing the internet and email? Our Computer Drop-in aimed at offering a space to older people and needs two people on Tuesday and Wednesday respectively to help facilitate the sessions. Timing is 10-1pm. The opportunity is based at our offices in Tavistock Square.

Volunteers ensure the space is set up for the session and are available to respond to queries and requests for help as they arise.

Drama School Assistant

Great opportunity to work with young people (ages 4 - 18) from across the capital who are exploring the performing arts for both career and life skills. You will work as part of a small team of people who are passionate about the arts. Support our teachers, admin staff and students, while developing valuable transferable skills such as leadership and coaching. We are looking for help at our four branches across London, where we run classes on Wednesday evenings and Saturdays.
