Volunteer befriender

Santé supports refugees and asylum seekers who have social care/ health issues. Befrienders will help people to link to services, rebuild confidence, overcome practical problems such as language barriers, and better understand UK culture.

No qualifications are needed although we require a DBS check to ensure you are eligible to work with vulnerable adults. Befrienders need to be accepting, caring, good listeners and assertive.

Ability to speak a refugee language is useful but not essential. Training and support will be provided.

The successful applicant will become the Legal Team Leader and be responsible for the running of the ACAA’s free bi-monthly legal clinic, alongside other volunteer tasks. This role would particularly suit a law graduate with an interest in family and immigration law.
