Calling all social media/communication/marketing whizzes!

We’re looking for a Publicity Volunteer, or a team of volunteers, to work together to research and develop a social media strategy for the organisation.

It’s an exciting time for The Literacy Pirates as we expand across London and beyond. We need to make sure that our message is getting out there, so that we can successfully deliver our programme of one-to-one literacy support to young people.

This is a chance to have a real impact on an organisation. By presenting your findings in a report and/or presentation, you’ll also develop your presentation and communication skills.

Role Aim:

The purpose of the role is to research and develop a publicity strategy/plan. So far, our communications (i.e. social media) is shared between our Fundraising and Volunteering team. The aim is that we will have a more coherent, and structured way of communicating what we do as our programme of one-to-one literacy support expands across London and beyond.

We’re looking for either one volunteer, or a group of volunteers, to assess our current social media output and communications, and compare it with the output of similar sized organisations.

The volunteer/s will then create a social media strategy based on this analysis, and share recommendations on how we can improve. Ideally, this will be presented in the form of a report or a presentation at either UCL or one of our ships to the Volunteering and Fundraising Team.

Skills needed:

Ideally, you would already have some knowledge and experience in communications and social media and the knowledge of what “works”

Please send an email detailing why you want to become a Publicity Volunteer and what skills you think you can bring to

Remote, with occasional visits to our ships in Hackney and Haringey
Time commitment:
1-5 hours per week

We’ll also retain your details so we can follow up to see how you’re getting on with your volunteering and offer support if necessary. We take good care of your data – you can see full details here
