IT Drop-in Volunteer

This is a brilliant opportunity to help people over 60 improve their confidence online and explore all that laptops, tablets and smartphones can offer them. No two weeks are the same at our weekly drop-in computer sessions at the Abbey Community Centre! You could be helping people set up email, talk to their family overseas on Skype, stream TV and films, book appointments, helping them their weekly shop online, use maps, find bus times and much, much more.

Foods of the World volunteer

• Our new ‘Foods of the World’ project is all about recipe sharing and getting to know our magnificently diverse community by supporting people to share their favourite recipes with one another and the wider community through our cafe.

Foods of the World volunteers work together to prepare healthy, delicious vegetarian meals with food surplus to be sold at our Saturday Community Café. Our café is used by people of all ages and backgrounds including those facing isolation and disadvantage.

Tech Buddy

Do you think you could be a Tech Buddy and help an older person get online and learn all the amazing things technology has to offer? Maybe you’ve helped your parents or grandparents with online shopping, using their smartphone or setting up a Facebook page. Or you just think it’s really important to get older people online. If so, we want to hear from you.

You’ll meet some great people, gain lots experience of community work in a buzzing and diverse centre, and receive bags of gratitude (and tea and biscuits!) from us!
