About the organisation

Royal Free Charity

The vision of the charity is that every patient’s experience is the best it can be. From the initial referral from the GP to discharge from hospital we aim to make the journey as supportive and comfortable as possible. Our volunteers offer a friendly smile, a cup of tea, something from the shop trolley, a library book, an errand done or a good chat to help them on their way. Everyone’s needs are different and there are volunteering opportunities for all, including non-clinical roles.

Do you play a musical instrument or sing? Would you like to play to patients regularly? The Royal Free Charity, which works across three hospitals to make every patient’s experience the best it can be, is looking for musical volunteers to play regularly on the wards as part of its new Arts in Hospitals programme. As part of Arts in Hospitals you will play a role in improving patient experience, health and wellbeing, and providing a welcome distraction to visiting friends and family. We have regular weekly and fortnightly slots at either Royal Free or Barnet Hospital, and we ask for a commitment between 3-6 months during the academic year. From jamming with patients to singing-a-longs with friends and family, the opportunity is a unique and diverse one and your own experience to shape.

Role Aim:
