Action Against Hunger

Action Against Hunger is a humanitarian organisation founded in 1979, committed to ending child hunger. Every day they work to save the lives of malnourished children while providing families with sustainable access to safe water and good nutrition. With over 30 years of expertise in emergency situations of conflict, natural disaster and chronic food insecurity, they helped over 13.6 million people in 47 countries last year.

Volunteers needed for food events!

Action Against Hunger is enthusiastically supported by top chefs, food writers, a multitude of restaurants, hotels and other food outlets, as well as food-lovers across Britain, who all unite to raise funds for our life-saving programmes around the world.

We attend food festivals and events throughout the year to fundraise and to continue to spread the word about our Love Food Give Food campaign and our programmes to new potential supporters.

Whether helping out on our pop-up restaurant stand, the Shop n? Drop area, selling raffle tickets, collecting donations or promoting new fundraising initiatives, there’s a whole host of different activities you could get involved in at these events.

Role Aim: 

Action Against Hunger works at food festivals and food events throughout the year to raise funds for their lifesaving programmes around the world. We are looking for friendly and enthusiastic volunteers to help at these events, selling raffle tickets, running the Shop & Drop, spreading the word about our lifesaving work as well as helping with other fundraising activities.

Duties: 

Activities will include some of the following:

* Selling raffle tickets,

* Selling bags

* Running the Shop & Drop

* Collecting donations

* Spreading the word about Action Against Hunger’s lifesaving programmes.

* Engaging the public in fundraising activities

Skills needed: 

A friendly and approachable attitude.

Enthusiastic and motivated.

Outgoing and Sociable Character

Ability to engage well with the public

Training: 

A briefing will be given by an experienced member of staff on the day of the event before every shift. It will cover advice on how best to carry out the activities for the day and will include a thorough briefing on Action Against Hunger, our ethos and what we do and the necessary health and safety briefing.

At various food events in London, including Regents Park and Tobacco Dock

Opening times: 
We will need volunteers for just a few shifts during the food events.
Once you’ve registered interest in this volunteering role, we’ll send your name and UCL email address to the organisation for their records. You’ll also receive information about the next steps to take if you do wish to take things forward.
