Mayhew Animal Home
The Mayhew Animal Home is one of the most effective animal welfare organisations in London, reaching thousands of dogs and cats to escape a life of abandonment, neglect and cruelty each year.
More than just a rescue and rehoming centre, The Mayhew strives to tackle the companion animal welfare crisis through the delivery of a number of community-based outreach programmes.
The Mayhew has volunteering opportunities in animal care, events, animal fostering and reception/ admin roles.

Mayhew is one of the most effective animal welfare organisations in London, helping thousands of dogs and cats to escape a life of abandonment, cruelty and neglect each year. Our vision is a society where animals are treated and cared for with respect.
Mayhew relies on over 1,000 hours of volunteer time per month. From dog walking and cat socialising to administration and adoption home checks, our volunteers are essential to everything we do.
As an events volunteer you would make a huge difference for ability to help animals and their owners in London, and abroad. Mayhew depends on donations from individuals.
Spread awareness about Mayhew and animal welfare issues, raise funds for Mayhew’s work in London and abroad.
Customer Service
* To acknowledge all members of the public visiting the stall and respond to their questions/needs
* To promote the stated objectives and policies of The Mayhew, avoiding personal opinion if this is inconsistent with Mayhew policy
Raising Funds
* To raise money for Mayhew via the sale of merchandise or collection of donations
* To be proactive in the sale of goods and promotion of Friends membership, sponsorship and other initiatives e.g. Christmas Catalogue
Raising Awareness
* To raise awareness of the work that Mayhew carries out, to gain support, educate, and promote initiatives e.g. Staffie Neutering Campaign, International Work
* To look for opportunities to hand out information e.g. Mayhew Magazine, Christmas Catalogue, Adoption process etc
Setting up/Packing up
* To set-up the stall so it looks attractive and information, goods and prices are well displayed according to instructions as delivered by events officers.
* To ensure that by the use of banners and A-frames that it is obvious the stall belongs to Mayhew.
* To ensure that money is safely stored and membership collected is clearly labelled
Feedback
* To provide feedback to the Events Officer about how well the event went, and where things could be improved
Cheerleading
* To meet and greet event participants for Mayhew at selected sporting events throughout the year.
* Cheer the event participants on throughout the event (where possible) with Mayhew banners
Excellent customer service skills, proactive, ability to work in team and take instructions well. Must be target driven with enthusiasm to exceed targets set by events officers.
