Repowering London

Repowering London is a not-for-profit organisation that specialises in facilitating the co-production of community-owned renewable energy projects. Repowering projects are funded through community shares and bonds, which in turn help create Community Benefit Funds. We work closely with professional installers, and local community groups. The design, execution and maintenance of each solar project includes internship opportunities for young people in finance, IT, technology, legal and marketing activities.

Repowering London are leaders in community energy. This volunteering opportunity offers the chance to get a real insight in to the inner workings of community energy projects across London. Community engagement is at the heart of everything Repowering do and we are looking for volunteers who are keen to learn about this aspect of community energy. There are also opportunities within our technical, financial and legal teams from time to time.

Role Aim: 

The aim of this role is to support Repowering London with its community engagement activities.


The Community Champion role is one which encompasses a wide range of duties, depending on what the individual volunteer wants to get out of the experience. Generally the role will include door knocking, liaising with members of the public at outreach events and supporting the Repowering team in the office as and when required.

Skills needed: 

Enthusiastic, can-do attitude, interest in community engagement and community energy


Volunteers will be trained in Repowering’s community engagement techniques and strategies as well as taken through safeguarding, health and safety strategies.

The date and time of the role is prone to change and can be discussed between the volunteer and Repowering.
