Holborn Community Association

Holborn Community Association (HCA) is a community anchor organisation based in central London which aims to encourage community integration, increase opportunities for local people and reduce social and economic inequalities in our community. At our three centres we provide activities and services to the residents of Holborn and the surrounding areas. Older Peoples services are based at Millman Street Resource Centre. Sport/fitness and under 5’s play activities are run out of Bedford House. Arts and Crafts take place at 1A-Arts Centre.

We are currently looking for enthusiastic volunteers to support our Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday afternoon pottery sessions from 4pm - 5.30pm with children aged 6-12 years old.

Volunteers will work alongside our resident potter to support the children to explore the clay and create their own pieces of work, learning techniques in hand building with clay as well as helping with set up and clearing up of the studio as needed.

No experience necessary, just an enthusiasm for creative activity and a desire to get stuck in!

Role Aim: 

The aim of the role is to provide support to our potter during children’s pottery sessions at our 1A Arts Centre. The volunteer will help the children to enjoy the pottery session byt helping them with their pieces and offering general support to the potter. The sessions run Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday afternoons from 4pm - 5.30pm with children aged 6-12 years old

Skills needed: 

Skills needed for the role. No experience necessary, but enthusiasm and an interest in working with and supporting primary age children is desirable.

Training: 

No specific training is provided, however our potter will support volunteers to learn skills within the sessions that they are then able to share with the children.
